Memories of noble savage for sharing

It is my joy to continue writing my thoughts of my years spent in Tanjong....and I would like this space to be of help to those of you who cannot remember much about our school...1957-1967

We were then scrawny little indigenous and immigrant children trying our best to better ourselves for the future world...

And notwithstanding all those hardship we managed...
cheers

Christopher,
Thank you very much for sharing your memories of Tanjong with us. However, not all ex-Tanjong can access your blog here. They are forming a group on Google and Samuel Teo is one of the pioneers. I hope that you will accept our invitation and come and join us over there.

Hi Christopher

Ever since Sam posted your savagenoble blog into our ex-TLS group yesterday, we all have been very impressed & excited , & you are the hot topic of yesterday & today.

I was Sam's classmate. I was in batch 1958 (Transition ) to 1965(Upper Form 6). I was head girl with Mohd Matassan in 1965, when Mr Henderson was our Headmaster.
I am now a retired medical practitioner residing in Melbourne , Australia.

We all have written many nostalgic articles in our ex-TLS group site. We are going to publish them in a BOOK.
You have soooooo many beautiful articles & it would be very good if they can be in the BOOK as well.

I am calling you & your Mrs , like an elder sister (as all in the ex-TLS group are like brothers & sisters )to join us.I see you love TLS as much as we all in the group , if not more. Hence , you'll enjoy in our group too, among loving , caring & fun group of like minded people, all related to our beloved TLS/TLC

I am extremely impressed with your articles in your blog. Your memory is awesome. Your writings are simply beautiful. I simplty could not stop reading .

Please consider joining us , or combining with us

Warm regards

Mabel Chiew

Sawan,

Remember the trip we made up the Baram River with our former Matron (was she?), TLS NZ teacher and a German frolein?

We went up a small tributary and went into a small cave, excavated some remains into platic bags!

Ever since then I couldn't help feeling being used and had always thought the activity was illegal!

Did you know what that was all about? Where did they send all the items? What had the frolein to do with the trip?

Robert,

Just a little response. I have read your great account of our Mt. Kinabalu climb, and your response to my blog.

Thanks. For all of us who are grey in the head (I saw the picture where five of you gathered - and I have this sense that I am missing something)we have come a long long way and it takes time for all of us to re-wind, re-view and take a step back, or many steps back, to view once again sentimentally our childhood, our youth....

I know, tongkat ali would be another story.

I for one, feel that it is good to be remembered, and to remember old times...hence one of the reasons for bluetanjong...i still play the blues...

With love,

Sawan

Thank you my learned friend, Christopher, for sharing many of your interesting experiences that you and fellow friends of your era have had during your formative years in Tanjong Lobang School. I was there in 1977-1980. We met during our TLC Reunion in Miri on 9.10.10 at Dynasty Hotel. I had enjoyed myself listening to your musical performance that night. By the way, yesterday I bumped into our Dr Roland Mattu and Jefferey Pasang in Kuching during breakfast. I reminded them that we should meet again for another reunion of our great school this year.

Have a great and blessed day.

Henry Joseph
